Another TING Athlete’s Foot Spray Recalled for Benzene

February 7, 2024 — Insight Pharmaceuticals has recalled another type of TING Athlete’s Foot Spray due to benzene contamination.

The recall involves TING® 1% Tolnaftate Athlete’s Foot Spray Antifungal Spray Liquid (Lot Number 0H50545 or 1G50645).

Last year, the manufacturer also recalled two lots of TING 2% Miconazole Nitrate Athlete’s Foot Spray Antifungal Spray Powder (Lot Number 0H88645 or 0H88645) due to benzene contamination.

Exposure to benzene is associated with severe side effects, such as cancer, leukemia, blood cancers of the bone marrow, and life-threatening bone disorders.

Fortunately, Insight Pharmaceuticals said that no serious adverse events have been linked to either recalled product.

The company explained that benzene was not added to either product. Instead, it came from the propellant that sprays the product out of the can.

Benzene contamination in the propellant that sprays products out of aerosol cans has led to many recalls in recent years. These recalls involve spray sunscreens, deodorants, dry shampoo, and more.
