Kalorik MAXX Ovens Linked to Burn Injuries
In October 2026, the CPSC issued a public warning for owners of Kalorik MAXX air fryer ovens with French doors. to stop using them because of a serious burn risk. Product Safety Warning No. 27-033 applies to both the MAXX and the MAXX Advance.
How Did a Warning End Up Replacing a Recall?
Normally, a company works with the CPSC to announce a recall and offer customers a refund or repair. That did not happen with the MAXX. The ovens were first brought into the country by Team International Group of America, Inc. and Kalorik, LLC, and both are now out of business, so neither can carry out a recall.
The Kalorik name outlived them. The Legacy Companies acquired Team International’s Kalorik countertop appliance line in an asset purchase announced in January 2024, and the CPSC says Legacy imported and sold the ovens after June 23, 2025.
Legacy has declined to participate in a recall, so the CPSC went public on its own. For Texas owners, that leaves no refund, no repair kit and no replacement oven.
Why Are the MAXX’s French Doors Dangerous?
The MAXX and MAXX Advance have a metal frame and 2 spring-loaded glass French doors with metal handles. According to the CPSC, those doors can suddenly close on consumers’ arms while the oven is on, a hazard the agency has tied to reported burns.
Picture reaching in to turn a tray of fajita chicken or pull out a batch of jalapeño poppers when the glass doors suddenly close on your arm. That is the moment the federal warning describes.
Which Kalorik Ovens Are Affected?
There is no model-number list to check against. Per the CPSC, the same basic oven went out under several SKUs and item numbers, with the only differences being the accessory bundle or the display panel. Look for these features instead:
- Kalorik brand, marketed as the MAXX or MAXX Advance
- Metal frame
- 2 spring-loaded glass French doors with metal handles
- Sold April 2020 to January 8, 2024, or after June 23, 2025
- Manufactured in China
Where Were They Sold?
According to the CPSC, the ovens were sold at Walmart, Home Depot and other specialty retailers nationwide, and online at Kalorik.com, Amazon.com and other sites. The MAXX has also been listed on the website of Texas grocer H-E-B.
For anyone who still has one, the CPSC recommends disposal under local hazardous waste procedures. In Texas, drop-off options vary by city and county, so check with your local solid waste or household hazardous waste program before putting the oven out with the trash. The full notice is available on the CPSC website.
How Many Burn Reports Has the CPSC Received?
The CPSC’s tally stands at dozens of burn reports nationwide, with at least 1 describing scarring reflective of second-degree burns. The agency has not said how many of those reports came from Texas.
The count includes only incidents reported to the agency, so it may not reflect every injury. If a MAXX oven burned you or someone in your family, our lawyers may be able to help.
Previous Kalorik Recalls
This is not the first Kalorik product to draw CPSC action. About 3,525 Kalorik Pro 1500F Electric Steakhouse Grills were recalled in June 2021 by Team International Group of America, then doing business as Kalorik. The CPSC said incorrectly electroplated knobs on the grills could pose an electric shock hazard once the grill had fully preheated.
That recall came with a fix in the form of a free repair kit for the knobs. MAXX owners are left with no remedy at all.
Legal Help for Air Fryer Burn Victims in Texas
Air fryer ovens are a common sight in Texas kitchens, from weeknight dinners in Houston and Dallas to game-day wings in San Antonio and Austin. The MAXX’s doors were even marketed as a safety feature, and H-E-B’s product listing says its single-pull glass French doors “prevent drips and protect from scalding.”
A burn from a kitchen appliance can mean medical visits, time off work and lasting scars. Texans who were hurt by one of these ovens may be entitled to compensation for medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering and other damages.
With no recall in place, injured Texans may want to understand their legal rights sooner rather than later. A Texas product liability lawyer can review what happened and explain your options.
