Hot Tub Jets Recalled for Drowning Hazards
In February 2026, safety officials warned consumers to immediately stop using Hydromassage® Rotary Jets for certain Highlife Collection® Spas and Hot Tubs because people can drown if their hair gets entangled or sucked into the jet, submerging their head underwater.
According to the recall warning:
“The hydromassage rotary jets can create a suction force that allows the user’s hair to be entangled, submerging their head underwater, posing entanglement and drowning hazards to the user.”
Were Any Injuries Reported?
No injuries were reported, but there was 1 report of a person in the U.S. whose hair became entangled in the hot tub jets.
Hot Tub Jets Linked to Dangerous Hair Entanglement Risk
The recall involves Hydromassage® Rotary Jets (6 fin), which are installed around the sides and/or seating areas of the hot tub, where a person would normally sit. This poses a safety issue for people with long hair, but also others (such as children) who swim underwater.
The problem is that the jets create a suction force that can entangle hair. This poses a serious drowning hazard if the user’s hair is sucked into the jet, or their hair is entangled as the jet rotates.
Hair entanglement in a hot tub jet can trap a person with their head submerged underwater, which poses a drowning hazard and a risk of life-threatening injuries due to a lack of oxygen, including death.
What Hot Tubs Have These Recalled Jets?
The hot tub jet recall was issued by Watkins Wellness, the largest hot tub manufacturer in the world. The company started manufacturing the recalled Hydromassage® Rotary Jets in late 2022.
Thousands of hot tubs and spas with the recalled jets were sold under the Hot Spring Spas® brand-name in the Highlife Collection® series.
Th recall includes 8 models of spas and hot tubs from model-years 2023, 2024, and 2025:
- Grandee
- Envoy
- Vanguard
- Aria
- Prodigy
- Sovereign
- Jetsetter
- Jetsetter LX
When Were They Sold?
These hot tubs and spas were sold between October 2022 and September 2025 at independent pool and spa dealers nationwide in the United States. Approximately 853 spas were also sold in Canada.
What Should I Do?
Customers should turn off the Hydromassage Rotary Jets to reduce the risk of hair entanglement and drowning. The jet can be turned off by rotating it clockwise until you feel a hard stop. There is no need to drain the water out of the hot tub or turn off the power.
Customers should visit the recall website to request a free replacement jet at https://www.hotspring.com/recalls.
