Cornerstone Frozen Blackberries Recalled for Norovirus Risk

October 8, 2019 — Cornerstone Premium Foods has recalled 15-ounce bags of frozen blackberries after a product tested positive for Norovirus contamination.

No illnesses have been reported to date. FDA tests of frozen blackberries were reported to be positive for Norovirus, according to the recall announcement.

Cornerstone Frozen Blackberries were distributed from April 2, 2019 through August 7, 2019. They were sold at stores in New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Maine, Florida, Alabama, Wisconsin, Connecticut and West Virginia.

The recalled product is marked with with Lot Number GC 1 1092 9, Expiration Date April 2021, and UPC Code 8 55104 00765 9.

Norovirus is a highly-contagious virus that can cause food poisoning. Symptoms include severe nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and sometimes a low-grade fever, chills, headache, muscle aches or fatigue.

In healthy adults, the symptoms usually resolve within 48 hours. However, Norovirus illnesses can last longer and be more severe in the elderly, young children and immunocompromised people.
