Did Striant cause a heart attack, stroke, blood clot, or death in you or a loved one? If so, this may be the most important message you will ever read. Recent studies indicate that men who take testosterone have a 30% increased risk of cardiovascular events. Additionally, in men aged 65 and older on testosterone, the risk of heart attack more than doubled.
“That’s equivalent to smoking one to two packs of cigarettes a day, or having sky-high cholesterol,” according to Dr. Francisco Lopez-Jimenez, a cardiologist at the Mayo Clinic.

What is Striant?
Striant (testosterone), manufactured by Columbia Laboratories, is a buccal system designed to adhere to the gum or inner cheek. It provides a controlled and sustained release of testosterone through the mucous membranes in the mouth. Striant is approved to treat men with hypogonadism (low testosterone).
Can Striant Cause Heart Attacks, Stroke, or Death?
Testosterone is well-known to increase the risk of blood clots in the legs. It increases the production of red blood cells, thickens the blood, and elevates blood pressure. This increases the risk that platelets will coagulate — especially in men who already have narrow arteries due to heart disease or aging.
FDA Launches Safety Investigation
Alarming scientific research has prompted the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to publish a Drug Safety Communication, warning about two studies linking testosterone with potential for deadly cardiovascular events.
According to Dr. Steve Nissen, Chief Cardiologist at the Cleveland Clinic:
“What’s going on is a giant experiment with American men’s health at stake, because we don’t have the long-term data on the safety of these products.”
FDA Warnings for Testosterone Heart Attack, Stroke Risk
March 4, 2015 — In a Safety Communication, the FDA is asking manufacturers of testosterone replacement products to stop marketing them for the treatment of age-related “Low T,” add warnings about heart attacks and strokes, and start studying the long-term risks. Click here to read more.
