The antibiotic Noroxin may increase the risk of tendon damage, permanent nerve injury (peripheral neuropathy), aortic aneurysms, and other severe side effects.

Noroxin and Aortic Aneurysms
Aortic aneurysms occur when the wall of the aorta weakens and blood forces it to “balloon” outward. It may produce no symptoms until suddenly bursting open and causing severe internal bleeding.
Noroxin and other fluoroquinolone antibiotics have been linked to rare side effects involving connective tissue damage, such as tendon ruptures and retinal detachments. Recent studies have also suggested that Noroxin may increase the risk of aortic aneurysms.
The first study was published by researchers in Taiwan in JAMA Internal Medicine in October 2015. Current use of fluoroquinolone antibiotics was linked to a 2.4-fold increased risk of aortic aneurysms. Another study published in November by the British Medical Journal found a tripled increased risk of aortic aneurysms based on data from 650,000 adults who used fluoroquinolone antibiotics.
Noroxin and Nerve Damage
In August 2013, the FDA published a Safety Communication to warn about the risk of permanent nerve damage from Noroxin and other antibiotics in the fluoroquinolone class.
All fluoroquinolones have carried warnings about peripheral neuropathy since 2004, but the FDA is concerned these warnings were inadequate. They have emphasized that symptoms can appear very rapidly (as little as 24 hours) and complications may be permanent.
According to the Prescribing Information:
“Norfloxacin should be discontinued if the patient experiences symptoms of neuropathy including pain, burning, tingling, numbness, and/or weakness, or is found to have deficits in light touch, pain, temperature, position sense, vibratory sensation, and/or motor strength in order to prevent the development of an irreversible condition.”
Noroxin and Tendon Injuries
Noroxin is associated with an increased risk of injury to the tendons, which are connective tissues between muscles and bones. Although this risk has been known for many years, the FDA added a Boxed Warning in 2008. The risk of tendinitis and tendon ruptures is highest for patients over 60 years old.
What is the problem?
The Clark Firm, LLP is nationally recognized as a class action law firm. However, we are not filing a Noroxin class action for our clients. Instead, we are filing individual lawsuits and only accepting cases from people with the most serious side effects.
About Class Actions
When a lot of people have a similar type of legal claim (for example, age discrimination by a corporation), class actions are an ideal way for everyone to join together and collectively seek compensation. One member is chosen to represent the group, and if compensation is awarded, the payout is shared.
Why Our Law Firm is Filing Individual Lawsuits as Opposed to a Class Action
In defective drug litigation, it is more common for people with serious injuries to file individual lawsuits instead of a class action. The advantage of an individual lawsuit is that plaintiffs have their own attorney who is committed to their case. Our lawyers are willing to fight for a settlement or go to trial, if necessary.
If the litigation grows very large or complex, it is common for individual lawsuits to be centralized in a mass-tort at the state and/or federal level. Like a class action, this process reduces costs, improves efficiency, and reduces the risk of conflicting rulings in various courts. Unlike a class action, each individual case can have its own outcome through a settlement or trial.
If you were injured by Noroxin, we may be able to help you file a lawsuit. You could receive compensation for your pain and suffering, medical expenses, lost income, permanent injuries, and more.
