After major outbreaks of Hepatitis A, class actions are often filed on behalf of everyone who needed a vaccine or immune globulin (IG) shot to prevent infection.

Overview
Hepatitis A is a common, highly-contagious virus that spreads in human feces and causes severe liver inflammation. While most cases are not life-threatening, the illness can cause debilitating symptoms that last for months. It can take 15-50 days for symptoms to appear.
How Do Outbreaks Occur?
- Food poisoning: Food-borne outbreaks of hepatitis A are rare in the United States. They can occur when water that is contaminated with sewage is sprayed on food that is eaten raw. These outbreaks are often linked to imported foods.
- Infected Food-Handlers: Outbreaks of hepatitis A can occur when sick food-workers do not wash their hands after using the bathroom and then prepare uncooked food. These outbreaks are usually much smaller than food-borne outbreaks.

Tropical Smoothie Café Class Action

Genki Sushi Hepatitis A Class Action
June to October 2016 — Lawyers in Honolulu have filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of everyone who was exposed to hepatitis A after eating at Genki Sushi in Hawaii. Nearly 300 illnesses have been linked to the outbreak, with over 70 victims hospitalized.
Hepatitis A Class Action Filed Against Costco
June 2013 — A federal judge has certified a class action lawsuit against Costco on behalf of everyone who was exposed to hepatitis A from contaminated pomegranate seeds in Townsend Farms Organic Anti-Oxidant Blend. At least 165 people in 10 states were infected, with 71 victims hospitalized.
Hepatitis A Vaccine
In June 2007, CDC began recommending giving the Hepatitis A vaccine within 2 weeks of exposure to prevent infections in unvaccinated people. For long-lasting protection, patients will need two doses given at least 6 months apart.
Immune Globulin (IG) Shot
Immune globulin (IG) is a shot of antibodies that destroy the hepatitis A vaccine and prevent infection. If given within 2 weeks of exposure, IG is more than 85% effective at preventing hepatitis A infection.
What is the problem?
The Clark Firm, LLP is nationally recognized as a class action law firm in Texas. However, our lawyers are not filing a hepatitis A class action. Instead, we are filing individual lawsuits for people who were severely sickened with hepatitis A or hospitalized for treatment.
About Class Actions
Class actions are a great way to help people who were exposed to hepatitis A in outbreaks of food poisoning. Lawyers can help thousands of people seek reimbursement for a vaccine, IG shot, or ongoing medical monitoring.
Why Our Law Firm is Filing Individual Lawsuits as Opposed to a Class Action
Class actions are not always ideal for people who were actually infected with hepatitis A in an outbreak — especially people who were hospitalized or experienced severe symptoms for months.
These injuries are more serious than the average class action plaintiff. It makes sense to file an individual lawsuit with a lawyer who specializes in maximizing financial compensation for pain and suffering, medical expenses, permanent injuries, and more.
