Lawsuits have been filed by a growing number of people who used anti-HIV drugs such as Complera. The problem is that Complera contains TDF, which is linked to an increased risk of bone, dental, and kidney side effects.

HIV Drug Injury Lawsuits

Gilead Sciences was hit with a class action lawsuit in May 2018 for people who used Complera and other HIV drugs. Gilead is also facing individual lawsuits that were filed by people who developed side effects after taking anti-HIV medications containing an ingredient called Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate (TDF).

What is TDF?

TDF is an antiviral medication that kills HIV viruses. It is an older version of tenofovir that must be taken in high doses to be effective. TDF is more dangerous than a newer version of tenofovir called TAF (Tenofovir Alafenamide). The difference is that TAF can be taken at lower doses, so it is less likely to cause long-term side effects.

Did Gilead Delay Selling Safer HIV Drugs?

Gilead Sciences is facing many lawsuits and class actions from patients who accuse the company of intentionally withholding TAF medications until they lost patent protection for Complera and other TDF drugs. The problem is that many patients on Complera developed permanent side effects in their kidneys, bones, and teeth.

What is the problem?

The Clark Firm, LLP is nationally recognized as a class action law firm in Texas, but our attorneys are not currently filing a Complera class action. Instead, we are filing individual lawsuits for people who took Complera for HIV or PrEP and developed severe side effects

About Class Actions

Class actions are typically filed when a lot of people have similar legal claims. Class actions are an ideal way to seek refunds, but class actions can have major disadvantages for people with severe injuries from defective medications.

Why Our Law Firm is Filing Individual Lawsuits as Opposed to a Class Action

There is no excuse for pharmaceutical companies who profit by selling dangerous medications. Our lawyers file individual lawsuits so we can focus on helping people with the most serious injuries seek compensation for their pain and suffering, medical expenses, lost income, permanent disability, decreased quality of life, and more.
