In November 2016, a jury in the city of Chicago awarded $7.5 million in a benzene lawsuit involving a railroad worker with leukemia. In February 2017, an auto mechanic with cancer filed a benzene lawsuit in Chicago, Illinois in Cook County Circuit Court. The lawsuit was filed by Steven J. Williams, a man with Multiple Myeloma who worked in repair shops since 1982.
