April 4, 2017 — Black & Decker recalled about 400 portable 10″ table saws because the stand can collapse and cause injuries.
The table saws were sold exclusively at Walmart stores nationwide, and online at www.walmart.com for about $190 between February 2016 through August 2016.
The recall involves model number JT2504BD table saws manufactured by Power Tool Specialists. The product information is printed on the front right side of the table saw.
No injuries were reported, but the manufacturer warns:
“In some instances, the stand may unexpectedly collapse. As a result, users could be struck by the product or be cut or otherwise injured.”
The table saws were made in China and the black metal foldable stands were made by Rexon Industrial Corp Ltd. of Taiwan.
Last month, Rexon issued a similar recall for about 45,000 portable Sears Craftsman 10″ table saws with a nearly identical foldable stand.
The Craftsman table saws were recalled after 11 reports of the table saw stand collapsing, which resulted in 9 injuries. The injuries included broken bones, lacerations, shoulder strain, and amputation.
For more information, contact Rexon toll-free at 866-934-6360 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or online at www.rexon.net and click on “Safety Information.”
Consumers should immediately stop using the table saw stands and contact Rexon for a free replacement. Have the model and serial number available when you call. Rexon will ship you a replacement.
