Ava’s Organic Nut Recall Expands for Listeria Risk

June 29, 2017 — Hampton Farms is expanding a recall for certain Ava’s Organic roasted cashews and almonds that may be contaminated with the food poisoning bacteria Listeria monocytogenes.

The recalls were issued after Hampton Farms was notified of a possible risk of Listeria contamination by an ingredient supplier, Hudson Valley Foods, Inc. of Highland, New York.

Hampton Farms added another 650 tubs of organic roasted cashews and almonds to the recall:

• Ava’s 8 oz Organic Roasted Unsalted Cashews: UPC 8-10111-01036-8, Lot# 11817 Exp 4/28/18, Lot# 12617 Exp 5/1/18, Lot#15917 Exp 6/5/18
• Ava’s 8 oz Organic Roasted Unsalted Almonds UPC 8-10111-01032-0, Lot#10217 Exp 4/10/18

On May 26, 2017, Hampton Farms also previously recalled about 225 tubs of the following product sold in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut:

• Ava’s Brand 8 oz. Organic Roasted Salted Cashews UPC 8-10111-01035-1, Best By 4/28/18, Lot 11817-L2

No illnesses have been reported, but food poisoning with Listeria can be very serious — especially for children, elderly adults, and people with weak immune systems.
