Texas Juvisync LawyerThe diabetes drug Juvisync stimulates the pancreas to make more insulin. It helps lower blood-sugar levels, but many experts are concerned it could also lead to pancreatitis (inflammation) or even pancreatic cancer.

Overview

Incretin mimetic drugs work by mimicking the incretin hormones that the body produces naturally after eating a meal. They stimulate the pancreas to release insulin, which is a hormone that tells cells to absorb more sugar from the bloodstream.

Juvisync and Pancreatic Cancer

Juvisync contains sitagliptin, which is an incretin mimetic diabetes drug sold alone under the brand-name Januvia. In March 2013, the FDA warned that Juvisync might increase a patient’s risk of pancreatic side effects.

The FDA expressed concern about two studies — one published in JAMA Internal Medicine found a doubled increased risk of pancreatitis associated with incretin therapy. Another study published in Diabetes found evidence of pre-cancerous growths called pancreatic duct metaplasia in the pancreases of diabetic patients on incretin therapy.

Hundreds of Lawsuits Filed in Incretin Mimetic MDL

U.S. District Judge Anthony Battaglia oversees more than 750 lawsuits involving pancreatic side effects of diabetes drugs. These lawsuits are not part of a class action — they are individual lawsuits that have been centralized in a Multi-District Litigation (MDL No. 2452) in federal court in Southern California, In Re: Incretin Mimetics Products Liability Litigation MDL.

What is the problem?

The Clark Firm, LLP is nationally recognized as a class action law firm, but our Texas trial attorneys are not filing a Juvisync class action. Instead, we are filing individual lawsuits for people who were injured by pancreatic cancer.

About Class Actions

Class actions have advantages when a lot of people need to resolve similar legal claims against the same defendant as efficiently as possible. Everyone joins together, collectively seeks compensation, and shares any payout awarded by a jury or settlement.

Why Our Law Firm is Filing Individual Lawsuits as Opposed to a Class Action

Class actions improve efficiency, but they are not designed to maximize compensation for people with severe injuries. Members may have to accept “low-ball” settlements or attorneys’ fees that do not leave much compensation remaining for everyone to share.

Instead of a class action, our attorneys file individual lawsuits. We only accept cases on behalf of people with the most serious injuries from defective medications. We specialize in helping victims file lawsuits against pharmaceutical companies that fail to warn about side effects.
