Actos Class Action Lawsuit Information

In April 2014, a jury ordered Takeda Pharmaceuticals and Eli Lilly & Co. to pay a combined $9 billion in punitive damages after a federal court found that they concealed risk information linking Actos and bladder cancer. Plaintiff Terrence Allen was awarded $1.5 million in compensatory damages.

A major factor in the massive verdict (seventh-largest in U.S. history, according to Bloomberg) was Takeda’s destruction of vital documents on 46 employees who were involved in the development and marketing of Actos. Click here to read more.

Takeda and Eli Lilly have already been hit with about 2,700 Actos lawsuits, but they are not part of a class action — instead, they are individual lawsuits filed on behalf of people who developed bladder cancer. The lawsuits have been centralized in federal court in Louisiana.

What is the problem?

The Clark Firm, LLP is nationally recognized as a class action law firm, but our Defective Drug Litigation Group is not filing an Actos class action lawsuit. Instead, we are filing individual lawsuits on behalf of plaintiffs who developed bladder cancer.

About Class Actions

When drug-makers fail to warn about side effects of a defective drug, class actions are a useful way for people who used that medication to seek a refund. However, for people who were severely injured, class actions can have disadvantages. Plaintiffs often must accept higher attorney’s fees or a “low-ball settlement.”

Why Our Law Firm is Filing Individual Lawsuits as Opposed to an Actos Class Action

Instead of a class action, our trial attorneys are filing individual Actos lawsuits. We specialize in helping victims of defective drugs seek financial compensation and justice from drug-makers. We believe individual lawsuits are the best way we can help each client maximize their financial recovery.

Actos is associated with bladder cancer — an extremely serious injury that can cause pain and suffering, ongoing medical expenses, disability, or even death. If you decide to file a lawsuit, we can help you seek compensation for these injuries, and more. Contact us today for more information.
