Stryker Orthopedics has recalled several types of hip implants, including:

The problem with the ABG II and the Rejuvenate is that they have a metal-on-metal component called a “modular-neck.” A normal hip implant has a single piece of metal for the “femoral stem” and the “neck.” A modular-neck hip implant has two adjustable pieces of metal between the stem and neck. This design was supposed to help a surgeon fit the implant to a patient. Unfortunately, the metal parts have been linked to high rates of fretting and/or corrosion.
