Charles H. Clark was born in a Humble Oil and Refining Company camp in New London, Texas. He was raised in three different Humble Oil Company camps: New London, Talco, and Hawkins, Texas. At 17, Mr. Clark got his first job working for an oilfield construction company, McCord-Lane, which he later represented for over thirty years. He spent many summers working in the oilfield for Humble Oil and Refining Company.

Education

While attending Baylor University, Mr. Clark was a member of the Baylor Chamber of Commerce, the oldest service organization on the campus. He served as president and treasurer. While in law school, he served as business manager for the Baylor Law Review.

Professional and community activities

Mr. Clark has practiced law since 1960. He is a past director for Texas Young Lawyers. He served on the Grievance Committee of the State Bar of Texas for eight years, and he served on the Statewide Disciplinary Review Committee for the State Bar of Texas two different times. He is a charter member of the East Texas Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a member of the Smith County Bar Association, a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, and a charter member of the Honorable T. John Ward Inn of Court.

Admissions and certifications

Mr. Clark is admitted to practice before United States Supreme Court, the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U. S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. He is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Mr. Clark is also certified as a mediator by the University of Houston Law Center’s A.A. White Dispute Resolution Institute.

Areas of Practice

Mr. Clark has tried over 500 cases to jury verdict. He has handled personal injury litigation for both plaintiffs and defendants. He has also tried cases involving real estate, oil and gas properties, products liability, will contests, employment disputes, and more.
